FOUR 50-MINUTE LECTURES

EACH FOLLOWED BY A 10-MINUTE LIVE Q&A SESSION

presented by Karen D. Sullivan, PhD, ABPP

Essential Tremor is a Neuropsychological Brain Health Challenge: Non-Motor Symptoms Validated and Explained

Dr. Sullivan will help you understand why understanding ET as a neuropsychological disorder is necessary. She will teach you all about the current scientific thinking on ET, including the role of the cerebellum, purkinje cells, how the age of onset dictates the course of symptoms and, most importantly, the non-motor symptoms (cognitive and emotional) that others can’t see but you live with every day.

The Social Impact of Living with Essential Tremor: How Your Symptoms Meet the World

Dr. Sullivan knows that ET presents many challenges to you, including those in the social world. Many people with ET are embarrassed by their symptoms and are at risk of becoming socially isolated and even developing social phobia. She will help you understand the social basis of the brain, why it is critical to develop socialization coping skills when you have ET, why we need to educate the public about ET and how to do your part.

presented by Jenna Renfroe, PhD, ABPP

Healing Through Essential Tremor: Effects on Self-Image and How to Improve it

Dr. Renfroe cares about the emotional difficulties and the impact on self-image that can accompany ET. Knowing it is not just you who struggles with these challenges can make you feel less alone. Dr. Renfroe will normalize this common aspect of the disease and teach you how to improve the relationship you have with ET.

Optimize your Psychological Quality of Life in ET with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Dr. Renfroe knows that ET affects your day to day functioning in significant and unavoidable ways.  She will teach you the evidence-based strategy of Acceptance and Commitment therapy to answer the question, “What can I do about it?” and learn practical ways to live alongside ET and optimize your psychological quality of life.
